50. Surah Qaf

The Quranic Text & Ali’s Version:

وَاسْتَمِعْ يَوْمَ يُنَادِ الْمُنَادِ مِن مَّكَانٍ قَرِيبٍ ﴿٤١﴾

50: 41.  And listen for the Day when the Caller will call out from a place quite near --

C4980. The Day of Resurrection, when the Call to the souls to arise and come to the Judgment-Seat will be immediately answered, and they will all arise and come forth.

Cf. 36:49-53, and notes 3997 and 3999.

C4981. In the life of this world it seemed all so remote. In the new life at the Resurrection it will all be so near; for there will be neither time nor space as we know them here.

يَوْمَ يَسْمَعُونَ الصَّيْحَةَ بِالْحَقِّ ...

50: 42.  The day when they will hear a (mighty) Blast in (very) truth:

C4982. The word "Al Sayhatun" (mighty Blast) is used for the Resurrection (as here) or for the sudden punishment of the guilty on this earth, as in 11:67, where see further references.

... ذَلِكَ يَوْمُ الْخُرُوجِ ﴿٤٢﴾

that will be the day of Resurrection

Others version:

(50:41) And [always] listen for the day when He who issues the call [of death] shall call [thee] from closeby; 33

(50:42) [and bethink thyself, too, of] the Day on which all [human beings) will in truth hear the final blast - that Day of [their] coming-forth [from death] .

.

Yuksel’s version

50:41 Listen to the day when the caller will call from a near place.

50:42 The day they hear the scream with truth. That is the day of coming out.

[[Asad’s notes - 33 Lit., "from a place nearby" - i.e., from within man himself: an echo of verse 15, "We are closer to him than his neck-vein". The "call" spoken of here is evidently the call of death, for which man should always be prepared. ]]
