قَالَتِ
الْمَلآئِكَةُ
يَا
مَرْيَمُ
إِنَّ
اللّهَ
يُبَشِّرُكِ
بِكَلِمَةٍ
مِّنْهُ...
3: 45. Behold! the angels said
"O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him:
...اسْمُهُ الْمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ ...
his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary,
C386. Christ: Greek, Christos=anointed: kings and priests were anointed to symbolize consecration to their office.
The Hebrew and Arabic form is Masih.
... وَجِيهًا فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ وَمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ ﴿٤٥﴾
held in honor in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah.
C387. Nearest to Allah: Muqarrabin. Cf. 56:11.

3: 46. "He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity,
C388. The ministry of Jesus lasted only about three years, from 30 to 33 years of his age, when in the eyes of his enemies he was crucified.
But the Gospel of Luke (2:46) describes him as disputing with the doctors in the Temple at the age of 12, and even earlier, as a child, he was "strong in spirit, filled with wisdom" (Luke 2:40).
Some apocryphal Gospels describe him as preaching from infancy.
... وَمِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ ﴿٤٦﴾
and he shall be (of the company) of the righteous."

وَلَمْ
يَمْسَسْنِي
بَشَرٌ...
3: 47. She said: "O my Lord! how shall I have a son when no man hath touched me?"
C389. She was addressed by angels, who gave her Allah's message.
In reply she speaks as to Allah. In reply, apparently an angel gives Allah's message.
...قَالَ كَذَلِكِ اللّهُ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاء...
He said: "Even so: Allah createth what He willeth;
...إِذَا قَضَى أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُ كُن فَيَكُونُ ﴿٤٧﴾
when He hath decreed a plan, He but saith to it 'Be',
and it is!
وَيُعَلِّمُهُ
الْكِتَابَ
وَالْحِكْمَةَ
وَالتَّوْرَاةَ
وَالإِنجِيلَ
﴿٤٨﴾
3: 48. "And Allah will teach him the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel.
وَرَسُولاً
إِلَى
بَنِي
إِسْرَائِيلَ

3: 49. "And (appoint him) a Messenger to the Children of Israel, (with this message):
... أَنِّي قَدْ جِئْتُكُم بِآيَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ...
I have come to you, with a sign from your Lord,
...أَنِّي أَخْلُقُ لَكُم مِّنَ الطِّينِ كَهَيْئَةِ الطَّيْرِ فَأَنفُخُ فِيهِ فَيَكُونُ طَيْرًا بِإِذْنِ اللّهِ...
in that I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah's leave;
C390. This miracle of the clay birds is found in some of the apocryphal Gospels; those of curing the blind and the lepers and raising the dead are in the canonical Gospels.
The original Gospel (see 3:48) was not the various stories written afterwards by disciples, but the real Message taught direct by Jesus.
...وَأُبْرِىءُ الأكْمَهَ والأَبْرَصَ وَأُحْيِـي الْمَوْتَى بِإِذْنِ اللّهِ...
and I heal those born blind, and the lepers, and I quicken the dead, by Allah's leave;
...وَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا تَأْكُلُونَ وَمَا تَدَّخِرُونَ فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ ...
and I declare to you what ye eat, and what ye store in your houses.
C391. This clause refers generally to a prophetic knowledge of what is not known to other people.
...إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لآيَةً لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ ﴿٤٩﴾
Surely therein is a Sign for you if ye did believe.

Yusuf Ali Behold! the angels said "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus the son of Mary held in honor in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah.
Pickthall (And remember) when the angels said: O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a word from Him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, illustrious in the world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (unto Allah).
Transliteration Iz qa_latil mala_'ikatu ya_ maryamu innalla_ha yubasysyiruki bi kalimatim minh(u), ismuhul masihu'isabnu maryama wajihan fid dunya_ wal a_khirati wa minal muqarrabin(a).

Yusuf Ali "He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity and he shall be (of the company) of the righteous."
Pickthall He will speak unto mankind in his cradle and in his manhood, and he is of the righteous.
Transliteration Wa yukallimun na_sa fil mahdi wa kahlaw wa minas sa_lihin(a).

Yusuf Ali She said: "O my Lord! how shall I have a son when no man hath touched me?" He said: "Even so: Allah createth what He willeth; when He hath decreed a plan He but saith to it `Be' and it is!
Pickthall She said: My Lord! How can I have a child when no mortal hath touched me? He said: So (it will be). Allah createth what He will. if He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! and it is.
Transliteration Qa_lat anna_ yaku_nu li waladuw wal lam yamsasni basyar(un), qa_la kaza_likilla_hu yakhluqu ma_ yasya_'(u), iza_ qada_ amran fa innama_ yaqu_lu lahu_ kun fayaku_n(u).

Pickthall And He will teach him the Scripture and wisdom, and the Torah and the Gospel.
Transliteration Wa yu'allimuhul kita_ba wal hikmata wat taura_ta wal injil(a).

Yusuf Ali "And (appoint him) an Apostle to the Children of Israel (with this message): I have come to you with a sign from your Lord in that I make for you out of clay as it were the figure of a bird and breathe into it and it becomes a bird by Allah's leave; and I heal those born blind and the lepers and I quicken the dead by Allah's leave; and I declare to you what ye eat and what ye store in your houses. Surely therein is a Sign for you if ye did believe.
Pickthall And will make him a messenger unto the children of Israel, (saying): Lo! I come unto you with a sign from your Lord. Lo! I fashion for you out of clay the likeness of a bird, and I breathe into it and it is a bird, by Allah's leave. I heal him who was born blind, and the leper, and I raise the dead, by Allah's leave. And I announce unto you what ye eat and what ye store up in your houses. Lo! herein verily is a portent for you, if ye are believers.
Transliteration Wa rasu_lan ila_ bani isra_'il(a), anni qad ji'tukum bi a_yatim mir rabbikum anni akhluqu lakum minat tini ka hai'atit tairi fa anfukhu fihi fa yaku_nu tairam bi iznilla_h(i), wa unabbi'ukum bima_ ta'kulu_na wa ma_ taddakhiru_na fi buyu_tikum, inna fi za_lika la a_yatal lakum in kuntum mu'minin(a).
